Anyone know of a brand or source for plain steel strings that have an extra short twisted section at the ball end? The total bridge plate/soundboard/bridge thickness on my harp ukuleles results in the twist on D'Addarios contacting the saddle, or coming very close to it. I could move the pin holes further back from the saddle, but I'd rather just have strings that fit it. Unraveling part of the twist by hand is also possible, but not easy. |

Just cut a ball end from an old string and slide it over the new string. This will lower the twist further into the body. |

I second what TR said. I had a guitar in high school that had this problem and this solved it. No buzzes or hassle. -j |

I've run into several custom string companies lately on instagram. I don't recall any names but I'm sure a google search should bring some up. I think they're pretty comparable to larger commercial manufacturers. |
